Connecting Service Learning
with the
Best Practices in Education

Introduction :

As educators we are always looking to improve our skills, and expand the set of tools that we bring to the classroom. We continuously explore new models and methodologies in the hope of reaching all students. Service Learning is recognized as an important tool in reaching a diverse student population. In this section we would like to explore the use of Service Learning as a powerful tool in implementing a wide range of accepted Best Practices in the classroom.

It is important to note that these educational models are complex. We can only give them a cursory overview in our limited space. Teaching through these models requires a great deal of training. Links have been provided to additional materials on each model. Each section has a PowerPoint presentation which highlights the connection between Service Learning and the specific model.
